Nine researchers at the University of Maryland’s A. James Clark School of Engineering have been named to the list of 2021 Highly Cited Researchers by Clarivate.

Highly Cited Researchers are recognized as “true pioneers in their fields,” demonstrated by their production of multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top one percent by citations for field and year in the Web of Science index. The methodology that determines the “who’s who” of influential researchers draws on the data and analysis performed by bibliometric experts and data scientists at the Institute for Scientific Information at Clarivate. Among the world’s researchers, says Clarivate, “Highly Cited Researchers truly are one in 1,000.”

“From safer, longer-lasting batteries to more reliable, sustainable supply chains, the research produced by engineers at Maryland advances our profession and improves people’s lives,” said Samuel Graham, Jr., dean of the Clark School. “Having nine researchers recognized as being among academia’s ‘citation elite’ signals the international leadership that we have in several research fields. Congratulations to our highly cited researchers: I'm proud that these engineers represent Maryland Engineering.”
