CEE's Dr. Ed Link was quoted in the "News & Insight" section of BusinessWeek on August 20, 2007. The article titled, "If The Levees Fail In California..." discusses the sub-par condition of the levees from San Francisco to Sacramento, CA. It draws parallels of the levees' status to those in Louisiana at the time Hurricane Katrina hit.

Fortunately, there are proactive steps that are being taken by the Californians to counter the natural disaster predictions. There are options, such as, the approval of a $4.9 billion bond that will help finance the repairs. Also, the use of a revolutionary threat assessment model and storm simulations will be pioneering the way to better disaster preparation
