Mr. Yanshuo Sun

 

UMD CEE graduate student, Mr. Yanshuo Sun, has been selected as the 2014 recipient of the Louis T. Klauder Scholarship by the American Public Transportation Foundation (APTF). The mission of APTF is to increase and retain the number of young professionals entering the public transportation field as a career in order to sustain growth and improvement throughout the industry. Mr. Sun is awarded the APTF scholarship due to his extraordinary research experiences and academic achievements in public transportation system planning and operations. The scholarship application is endorsed by Montgomery County Transit Service/Ride On.

Mr. Sun will be recognized on the APTF Awards Ceremony at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Annual Meeting & EXPO on October 14, 2014 in Houston, TX. He is also invited to the APTF Board of Directors meeting during the APTA meeting. A cash award of $5,000 is provided in addition to a plaque.

Mr. Sun is a 3rd-year Ph.D. student supervised by Prof. Paul Schonfeld. He received his B.S. from Southwest Jiaotong University and M.S. from Tongji University in China, both in Transportation Engineering. He was also awarded an I-95 Fellowship from I-95 Corridor Coalition and a Rail Transit Scholarship from the American Railway Engineering and maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) in January and February, 2014, respectively. Currently he is working on airport capacity expansion projects.
