Nikola Ivanov, Senior Technical Advisor at the Center for Advanced Transportation Technology Laboratory (CATT Lab) was nominated and elected as the new president of the Intelligent Transportation Society (ITS) of Maryland for the upcoming year. Nominations and elections were announced during the ITS MD Annual Meeting which was held September 30 ? October 1, 2010 at the Maritime Institute. Nikola has been actively involved with ITS Maryland since 2006, currently, he is the Vice President and has served on the board of directors for several years. Congratulations Nikola!

ITS Maryland is a State Chapter of ITS America, the organization of public agencies, private companies and academic institutions.  Together with the U.S. Department of Transportation, they are supporting and promoting the coordinated development and deployment of technologies that will make our transportation systems safer, more effective, and more efficient while providing improved service to the customers and users of the systems. ITS Maryland?s mission is to support and promote the deployment of safe, efficient, integrated, and inter-modal intelligent transportation systems in Maryland.  This will be accomplished by providing a forum for coordination, communication, education, training, and outreach among all interested organizations in the State.  For more information about ITS Maryland, visit: www.itsmd.org.

About the CATT Lab

The Center for Advanced Transportation Technology Laboratory (CATT Lab) in the A. James Clark School of Engineering Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park, supports National, State, and local efforts to provide safe and efficient transportation systems through improved operations and management by means of research and development, technology implementation, training and education.
