CEE?s Dr. Miroslaw Skibniewski was awarded a honorary doctorate by Vilniaus Gedimino Technikos Universitatetas in Lithuania. The official ceremony took place on October 6, 2009 in Vilnius. His nomination and subsequent award of this doctorate was unanimously approved by the Senate of VGTU.

On another note, the Journal of Civil Engineering and Management, of which Dr. Skibniewski serves as North American Editor, in 2008 became featured on the Master List of Journals (Expanded) by Thomson-Reuters Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) based in Philadelphia, PA.

Additionally, Automation in Construction, an international research journal published by Elsevier for which Dr. Skibniewski has been serving as editor-in-chief for the past 15 years, became in 2009 the world's top research journal in the field of construction engineering as determined by Thomson-Reuters Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) Impact Factor rankings. These rankings are the most widely used metrics of quality for research journals in the various fields of science and technology.

In Fall 2009 Prof. Skibniewski was invited by the UMD Robert H. Smith School of Business to accept a courtesy appointment as Affiliate Professor in the Department of Decision, Operations and Information Technologies. This appointment is intended to foster the cooperation in research and education between the A.J. Clark School of Engineering and the R.H. Smith School of Business.

And finally, Dr. Skibniewski was invited to deliver an inaugural lecture for the start of the 2009-10 academic year at Gdańsk University of Technology on the topic of "Modern Approaches to the Management of Project Teams."
