Dr.Gerald E. Galloway,a Glenn L. Martin Institute Professor at the University of Maryland's Clark School of Engineering assumed the duties of President of the American Water Resources Association (AWRA) on January 1,2007 for a one-year term. Dr Galloway also serves as Co-chair of AWRA's National Water Resources Policy Dialogues.

Founded in 1964, the American Water Resources Association is a non-profit professional association dedicated to the advancement of men and women in water resources management, research, and education. AWRA's membership is multidisciplinary; its diversity is its hallmark. It is the professional home of a wide variety of water resources experts including engineers, educators, foresters, biologists, ecologists, geographers, managers, regulators, hydrologists and attorneys. AWRA publishes the peer reviewed Journal of the American Water Resources Association (JAWRA) and its bi-monthly magazine, Water Resources Impact. It has state sections in 25 states and student chapters at 18 universities.
